  I was shopping with my mom and we went to check out. The person at the register had to go help someone with something, which was fine, but when she got back she looked at my mom and I (we were checking out separately). She said, "Are we together?" And I said we were checking out separately. She said, no kidding, "I think the older one should pay for the younger one." I said that the "older one" bought me whatever I wanted for the biggest part of my life, and she said that she would say that to her mom and her mom would tell her it made her feel good to buy her things. I said that I felt plenty good buying my own clothes and then changed the subject. Honestly, I am sure she is a nice person but I think I that was totally inappropriate.
